June 11, 2012

This week was a week of "coincidences" Let me start off with a funny one:

First of all, some background info: Elder Bishop and I get along REALLY well! It's pretty incredible how well we get along actually. So every once in awhile we do stuff to "annoy" the other person, but it's never really annoying, it's just kinda funny because we're always overly obvious that we're messing with each other. Well, we'd been looking for this one investigator for about 2 weeks or so, and we had just stopped by their house to see if they were at home. Well, she wasn't so we started driving away. While we were driving to our next destination, my companion was being funny and telling me everywhere to turn, just for fun. So after a couple of turns I decided to be funny, and just randomly turn on a random street just to throw him off. Well, I got a good reaction out of him, but it wasn't anything I expected. I made the random turn, and suddenly Elder Bishop said: "Hey, isn't that the Ortega's car?" and it WAS! It was the people that we'd been looking for! So we stopped the car, got out, and went and knocked the door. It turns out that the lady we'd been looking for is the sister of the lady that lived at that house, and the sister is a member (as well as all of her family!) So we taught them an incredible lesson, and left with our minds completely blown.

Apart from that, we've basically just had a really good week full of "coincidences" where we show up and just randomly catch somebody at home that is basically NEVER at home, or that we can never catch. For example, we finally found this guy from Mexico that we've been looking for for the last 3 months. I taught him 5-6 times my first transfer here, but since then, he basically just disappeared. Apparently he works about 12 hours a day 7 days a's pretty crazy. I honestly don't get why people have their stores open here on Sunday. It's gotta be the worst day of the week for them, because none of the Mormons buy stuff on Sunday....It would be really convenient if they would just close down so that people could come to church...  Anyways, we've met some new people who are basically ready to be baptized, and got some people we've been teaching for awhile who are getting closer, things are looking good!

Love to all!
Elder Williams

P.P.S. Transfer calls this Saturday...I'm hoping I don't get transferred...
